Heaven on Earth
by Patrick Donegall
This book will give amusement and pleasure to who have known and loved rural Ireland, as I did when working there in the 1980s, and who reminisce fondly about a time when politics was less intrusive in the countryside.
The Marquess of Donegall, who now runs the family home Dunbrody Abbey in Co Wexford as a tourist attraction and lives half the time in Scotland, recalls with indulgence, hum- our and much national pride his happily relaxed, Somerville and Ross-style hunting, shooting and fishing upbringing there, enhanced by evocative photographs and Oliver Pres- ton’s cartoons. The only jarring note is the political broadcast at the end.
